Oxbow is a leading producer, marketer and distributor of ferroalloys and specialty materials for the North American steel and foundry industry. Oxbow’s alloys division is comprised of five separate but related businesses. These
unique companies market and create metals and materials including ferrosilicon, ferrovanadium, ferromolybdenum, fluorspar, metallurgical process materials and other ferroalloys. A common marketing and distribution group headquartered in Corapolis, PA, serves as the principal domestic sales force for Oxbow’s alloys. The company also serves as a marketer and distributor for foreign metals suppliers seeking entry into the North American market.
Oxbow owns and operates a ferrosilicon plant in Bridgeport, Alabama, producing high purity ferrosilicon, a deoxidizing agent used in the creation of specialty steels.
The company also is a producer of ferrovanadium in Ontario, Canada. Oxbow is the only producer of ferrovanadium in Canada. The company also converts molybdenum oxide into ferromolybdenum.
In addition, Oxbow owns and operates a
blending and bagging facility in Aurora, IN. Oxbow is a key manufacturer of specialty blends used by the North American steel industry for extracting sulfur from steel and slag. The company processes and sells acid-grade fluorspar as a finished product. Oxbow is the largest producer of metallurgical process-materials in the United States.
Lastly, Oxbow owns and operates the second largest acid-grade fluorspar mine in Mexico. Located in Coahuila, in northwest Mexico, Oxbow can produce close to 117,500 tons of fluorspar annually.
